Due to the primary dns server for the site being taken down permanently, while at the same time the secondary is down for repairs, nothing was working :(

Obviously this has been fixed. I had a bunch of good things to post about while the site was down, but I have since forgotten them.

I got duped into getting a haircut :(

Finally got Debain up and running on the SGI a short while ago. Only took 2 tries, not bad if you ask me. Turns out that I needed to kill the partition tables before trying to install Linux rather than letting it use the old ones and changing their type. Other than that little quirk it was just a matter of following the Debian/MIPS walkthroughs that are scattered out there.

I just finished eating what quite possibly could have been the worst meal of my life. I haven't had anything to eat since breakfast so I go downstairs to find some food. There's no good leftovers in the fridge, but the freezer outside has more food. Not that it has anything good but I'm really hungry. I grab a TV dinner and notice there's some tater tots, I grab those too. I figured while I'm waiting for the oil to heat up I can eat the TV dinner.

First sign dinner is going south, I can only find enough oil to fill the very bottom of the frier. The microwave goes off so I start eating the TV dinner. It's supposed to be some sort of Ziti pasta thing, it tastes more like plain noodles with some chewy rubbery stuff which I think was supposed to be cheese. I take out the first batch of tater tots (turns out they weren't cooked long enough) and go to get some ketchup outta the fridge. There's none in the fridge; I check the pantry, NONE THERE EITHER! So now I have some tater tots that taste like oil and no ketchup. I use Spicy Honey BBQ sause instead. It tastes like crap.

Since I didn't have very much oil I had to make 2 batches. After I'm almost done struggling through the BBQ tater tots the second batch is done. To try and get some flavor in these greaseballs I try some Old Bay. At first nothing is coming out ... then BOOM ... what seems like half the container comes shooting out. I shake the paper towel they're sitting on to try and get rid of some of the old bay. Of course it doesn't do much good since they're covered in oil.

Now I have half a plate with tater tots completely covered in Old Bay. Since the BBQ sauce idea didn't pan out I try something else ... salsa con queso. Cheese fries taste good right? Turns out it doesn't work that way. Now I either get a somewhat cheese flavored greaseball or a make your eyes start watering overly spicey old bay flavored greaseball.

I ended up giving the rest to the dogs ...

Just picked up a SGI Indy today. How anyone can stand using IRIX is beyond me ... 4DWM looks like butt. Oh well, gonna get Debian for mips tomorrow at work. Then it's off to look at a Corrado for my bro ... full day of driving o_O

Long naps right after dinner do you no good.

Why do you think this got posted when it did? Nothing like hearing the birds chirping and seeing the sun rise as you finally start to get sleepy.
