Waiting is a funny thing, especially when what you're waiting for isn't necassarily going to happen. So your choices are to either stop waiting and not find out if it was going to happen or wait and find out.
I usually end up waiting only to have what I was waiting for not even happen. Disappointment if I don't wait and miss my chance or disappointment if I wait and it doesn't even happen.
C'est la vie.
